Christmas Pom Pom Garland Tutorial

So I posted this garland I made on IG and had a few questions so I decided to make a quick tutorial.

My Mom taught me how to make these when I was very little. She used to put them in my pony tails & at the end of her yarn wall thingys...think 70's LOL I love this memory with her and taught my girls how to make them too.

I haven't made these in years but noticed they were making a comeback. I felt like being crafty & wanted a banner/garland but didn't have a lot of time. So tada.... My Chistmas Pom Pom garland.

Tutorial below :)

****the fork used is a larger serving fork not a table fork. But I know it can be used with a smaller fork because that's the size we made when I was little. The Pom Poms will of course be smaller though.

Wrap the yarn around fork. I did it by eye mostly but it's wrapped about 70 times. You can play around with this, less would be a loose Pom Pom & more would be a really tight Pom Pom. Cut end off.

Cut a 5 inch piece of yarn and tie around the center of bundle while it's still on fork. Make sure it's tight. (There is a way of keeping the ends longer and using them to tie it off. I just find using a separate piece of yarn easier & helps to get it tighter in center)

Remove from fork and snip through the loops.

You can trim the Pom Pom to get the ball more even if you like. (My Mama called this giving it a haircut)

Thread your Pom Poms on doubled thread. I used metallic but any thread will do. You can even use the yarn itself using a larger needle.

To keep them from sliding around I hot glued the the Pom Poms in place after I adjusted how far apart I wanted them.

And that's it...quick & easy.

Sisters...

Just a quick post today with a layout of my beautiful daughters. We were pumpkin picking at Casala Farms in NJ. So many photos oppurtunitys at this beautiful farm.

Used Basic Grey Persimmon. Loved how the paper I used at the corners matched my oldest daughters sweater. Love when things like that happen. It's the little things, right?

Also want to wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving! Eat tons, laugh a lot, enjoy your company & travel safe!

May PL spread

Hey everyone today I have a PL layout over on the COGC blog for their Everyday Life. documented series.

May was crazy busy for us! Let's see... We had Aly's prom, my birthday, Sophia's spring musical, Mothers day, a romantic bday weekend away, AND a complete bedroom redo! Needless to say I needed to use an insert. AND more so a glass of wine!

Right side, left the title card nice and simple

Left side, which I left mostly photos because nothing could compete with my daughters beautiful prom :)

Insert - front and back

Made a little pocket to hold her ticket and table place card

My Mother's Day was FAB & my kids spoiled me rotten

Notice the new Birthday shoes. They came in handy because my husband took me away for a weekend and I got spoiled rotten again

My daughters beautiful corsage which included a piece of her gorgeous dress

Home really is where the heart is

Thanks so very much for looking!

You Can Go Your Own Way (Process)

My beautiful daughter Alyssa. She has always been unique to herself. And one of the traits I admire the most about her is that she is not a follower. I was very proud of her in the younger teen years because of this.

Ok so I've tried my hand at a process video. If I decide to do another I will try to improve on this. I downloaded a simple video app & gave it a go.

It's very simple for now & set to music. Not sure you are all ready for my Brooklynese accent lol. Just kidding (sorta) but I'm not sure how to video live. The simple app I downloaded doesn't have many functions & I'm unsure what app to use. I also take forever to complete a layout, so I would need to speed it up.

I need to look into it, I am considering it for the future though... ;)

Would love to know what you all think. **I do know that next time I'll upload with a higher resolution.**

Thanks so much for looking & watching!

Favorite Season

The fall season is hands down my favorite. I love everything about it. It has my favorite holidays, smells, colors & feel. Not to mention all the cute sweaters, scarves and boots!

Wish it was fall all year long!

This layout didn't get off to such a good start.... Look what happened lol

Ack! See the paper towel I put to catch the teeny tiny splatters I thought might happen! I never take those precautions. It's as though the universe said "silly girl, I don't think so" LOL

Autumn 1999

I love these pictures of Alyssa & Mikey. Here we spent the day at Dykers Fall Festival. Lots of good food & fun. Aren't they adorbs! ;)
Used WP new pattern paper Cornucopia. Loved the colors in this. I also used BG Persimmon even though the colors are slightly different.
I originally didn't have the vellum under the matted photo. Unfortunately I over misted my background at the very end. So instead of ripping my mistake up & having to redo everything I opted for my secret trick. I have used vellum quite a few times to hide a mistake. It subtle & covers things up just enough without adding any extra clutter.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your weekend :)

Love You Bugsy

Hey everyone today I'm sharing a layout on the Come on Get Crafty blog using CP flea market. I so love this line!

This is our bunny Bugsy. He is the real King of this castle, lol. He is definitely a brat. But no matter how much of a brat he is we love him to pieces. That whole cuteness factor gets us every time.

Not Too Spooky

Happy Halloween!

Hey today I have a fun & easy tutorial on the Come on Get Crafty blog. I'm showing you how to make your non themed products spookier using liquid appliqué. It's a fun technique and a medium I've enjoyed using for years. You can head on over to the blog to see full tutorial... Here's the finished page.
